True Colors

Maya Angelou once said, "When people show you who they are, believe them." However, in our daily lives, most people walk around with blinders on, in an attempt to escape the truth. And what that truth is, is that there are only a handful of friends that each person has that will go beyond the call of duty when it is needed. It might seem kinda harsh, but that is the real truth. So for my New Year's Resolution, I decided to make it something that is a bit more attainable than the typical resolution.

"I will try to be a better friend. I will rise to my duty as a friend and stand on the front line when they need me most."

There it is!

There is a Cheetah Girls song, (lame I know), that I find especially good to listen to when I am "feeling blue." It's called Cherish the Moment, and it goes like such,

"Cherish the Moment, live for today. We all get lost, just don't lose your way. We all love the sun but we still need the rain, so what good is it to complain? It don't change a thing."

Initially, when i agreed to go see this movie, I had only seen the previews a couple of times. And even then, I did not really pay close attention to what it was about. Yet, since it starred Clint Eastwood, and through my half-way listening skills it sounded interesting, I thought I would check it out. This movie was different, yet amazing! It took some risks that not many directors would dare try. Although at times I was ready to throw a stick at the screen, I was really impressed by the movie. Not only does this movie take you in a 360 circle from hate to love, but it teaches a valuable lesson of respect for other cultures. I definitely recommend that you go see this movie!

BE THE CHANGE

As I watched all of the inaugural events today, I could not help but become overcome with joy. And what made that joy even more realistic was that I felt that every other American felt the same way! One thing that touched my heart was an young African American male stated that, "now I have something else to strive for besides being an athlete." As I heard this, tears built up in my eyes! This is the beginning of new era. As stated in his inauguration speech, "The time has come to set aside childish things." WE ARE the CHANGE! Together as a country, we CAN make a difference. Obama has renewed the hope and the pride that we have for our country, and for that I there are no words I can say except, THANK YOU! Thank you for making us believe again. For enabling us to see that this truly is a Land of Opportunity. You have gained the respect of millions of people, and we stand behind you 100%. May God Bless you and our country! Now, it is officially time to drop the elect and say, Welcome PRESIDENT Barack Obama!
